למי שלא ידע - אנטון כץ נטש אותנו לאנחות לטובת לימודים ומלגת קליעה באחד המוסדות היוקרתיים (מבחינת למ-ימודים - לא מבחינת קליעה) בארה"ב - MIT (המכון הטכנולוגי של מסצ'וסטס).

למי שמתעניין בתוצאות של חברנו היקר מוזמן להכנס לאתר הקבוצה:

המייל של אנטון לא ברור. המייל שקוץ' נתן לי התברר כדד אנד. מי שיודע - מוזמן לשלוח לו מיילים להנעים את זמנו בניכר

יש לך מושג למה הוא לא יורה טוטו רק אויר?

אני יודע שלאיתי רוזנצוייג עשו בעיות כשהוא רצה להביא את הרובה לארה"ב.

מיכאל, אל תשווה דבר ראשון בין איתי לאנטון, איתי לא היה שייך למסגרת כלשהי, בטח לא כזאת.
הספונסרים של MIT לפי מה שאנטון אמר לי הם המרלי, והוא קיבל מהם רובה אלומיניום חדש. לפי מה שזכור לי, לא בטוחה, המטווחים שם הם לא בדיוק במטרים, לפחות לא הטוטו.... אבל אני לא זוכרת למה הוא לא יורה.
אנטון לא התקבל לשם על שום מילגת קליעה, הוא פשוט עושה את זה כי זה נותן לו נק', והוא חייב להירשם לספורט כלשהו שם. הוא מספר שהרמה שם עלובה במיוחד... הקלע הכי טוב, שהוא שנה רביעית יורה ביום טוב 380.....

במכללות יורים טוטו למרחק 15 יארד (כמעט 15 מטרים). התוצאות של הטובים (מת'יו אמונס, למשל) הן בסביבות ה-1190-1180.

אז כמו ששלומית אמרה - אנטון לא על מלגת קליעה הוא יורה בעיקר בשביל ה FUN
הוא באמת ירה עם המרלי , רק שזה חרא של רובה (לדבריו) , אז המאמן שלו נתן לו רובה וולטר אלומיניום של הבת שלו (שהיא אלופה די רצינית שם) ואנטון אומר שזה רובה מדהים .
הוא לא יורה טוטו כי לפי מה שהבנתי אין שם מטווח טוטו , ואכן הטווחים הם ביארד שזה די מצחיק כי הכל קרוב יותר אבל המטרות הוקטנו בהתאם , ומיכאל - אנטון דוקא אמר לי שהם יורים ל 50 יארד בטוטו ..

They are using the same indoors range: 50 feet for Smallbore, and 10 meter for air rifle. They have different type of targets for Smallbore. These targets are easier than the 50-meter ISSF targets (means that they are not an ISSF reduction targets). MIT is more like a club, they do not give any scholarships for shooting, and as Anton said, they have low-level shooters that take shooting more as a hobby. They are not ranked as one of the first 30 shooting colleges.

Can Anton make it to the NCAA Nationals based on his individual scores?

He can make it to the NCAA Championships (March 13 weekend) only if his team shoots the "NCAA Qualifier" match around February 14 weekend. In this match the teams and individuals for Air Rifle and Smallbore are selected for the NCAA.

A person or team can make one or both. A total of 48 competitors will be selected to the championships. The top eight teams in each team event and 40 or fewer individuals in each individual event qualify for the championships.

I do not know how many they will select this year but this can give you an idea. But with 8 teams selected that means already 32 shooters (assuming that the same teams made it for Smallbore & Air, otherwise the 32 shooters grows to 36 or 40...). In Last year individual match they had 11 competitors in Air and 13 in Smallbore. Anyway participation is based only on the NCAA Qualifier and to make it would be pretty difficult.

The scores to qualify usually comes to around mid 390 in air and 1170 in Smallbore (it is equivalent to around 1160 on the ISSF targets)

I hope that my explanation did not confuse you more, but it is not that simple process.

As a lawyer, I don't let the facts confuse me.......

The explanation is O.K. As I see it Anton's chances of participating in the NCAA Championships are very slim, unless he'll shoot close to 400 in the NCAA Qualifier

These targets are a reduced version of the old 50 meter UIT targets.
You can see them at attached link. The targets are called A-36.
